My love for kids seemed instant when, still in high school, I worked as a teachers assistant for a first and second grade combination class at Skyridge Elementary school located in Auburn California. The satisfaction I gained from that experience was life-changing, and in December of 2002 I started working at Lolli Totts Family Preschool & Child Care facility also located here in Auburn. Nichole, the owner, quickly became my mentor and friend, and she encouraged me to pursue a career with children. I began taking child development classes at Sierra College in hopes of obtaining a teaching degree. Eventually I choose a different career path, but I never gave up my passion for kids. Even as I worked in an entirely different field, I continued working at Lolli Totts on my days off. Those were kids that I was invested in. I watched some of them grow from infants, and I just couldn't leave them. I missed them when I was away. As luck would have it, life threw a curve, and my husband and I received our own little bundle in March of 2008. My son was just what I needed to get me back on track. While I was on my leave I had a lot of time to think and I spent a lot of time at Lolli Totts. The smiles and giggles of the kids there confirmed my thoughts. Nichole helped me realize that I could do this on my own. She told me that “with six years of experience and a huge heart for kids” I have everything I need to start an in home center where children will flourish. My husband and I put our options on the table, talked through the logistics and took the leap. I open Cradles To Crayons Preschool and Child Care in Folsom, Ca where my passion for the teaching continued to grown. Now with over 12 years experience I have been able to create my own curriculum that will fit all different learning styles so that every child's needs are met. This is a passion of mine that year to year grows stronger. Watching the childrens eyes light up when they have learned something new is what make my job the best.
